Testosterone Supplements

As the age advances, most of the people experience a considerable drop in their metabolism and testosterone levels which affects their overall well-being.

Testosterone supplements are a kind of prescribed drugs, generally used by men to boost their sexual and physical drive. Testosterone is also referred to as a “He Hormone” and is always used by men.

But studies reveal that women also possess a considerable amount of testosterone in their bodies which plays a very instrumental role in maintaining their overall health. As women gradually age, they experience a drop in their estrogen levels. But occasionally, it may so happen that they may experience a drop in natural testosterone levels which may lead to various problems, such as weight gain and reduced libido.

Detailed studies reveal that like women, most of the men undergo a phase known as male menopause or andropause. This phase usually occurs in men in their middle age i.e. in the age group of 45-55 years. Andropause is characterized by several symptoms such as diminished libido, fatigue, loss of muscle mass, sudden weight gain and increased irritability, among others.

Testosterone supplements help such individuals to regain their stamina and zest. Yet, there are entirely different group of individuals who use testosterone supplements for entirely different purposes. Various athletes and body builders use these supplements to boost up their physical stamina and gain an edge over their competitors, sometimes with disastrous results. If caught taking “drugs”, they are disgraced and debarred from future competitions.

There are various testosterone supplements available in the market. Some of them contain steroids which are considered illegal and may harm our body in the long run. On the other hand, others contain herbal ingredients which are scientifically approved.

The intake of testosterone supplements has been always linked with a lot of controversies. Scientists claim that some active ingredients present in these supplements play a very instrumental role in preventing Alzheimer’s disease, while others consider that the steroids present in it may hamper a person’s growth drastically.
